Why Choose Sedation Dentistry?

Dental anxiety is more common than you might think. At Middlesex OMS, we understand that surgery can be intimidating. Sedation offers numerous benefits:

  • Safe and closely monitored environment
  • Deep relaxation during procedures
  • Pain-free experience
  • Little or no memory of the surgery
  • Faster and smoother recovery

Sedation Options Offered by Dr. Goulston

Dr. Goulston will work with you to determine the best sedation method for your health, comfort level, and the complexity of your procedure:

Local Anesthesia

Numbs the treatment area to prevent pain. Often combined with other sedation options.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

A mild inhaled sedative that helps you stay calm. Effects wear off quickly after the procedure.

Oral Sedation

A prescribed pill taken before surgery to promote relaxation. You’ll remain awake but deeply relaxed.

IV Sedation (Moderate to Deep Sedation)

Administered directly into your bloodstream for rapid, controlled sedation. You may remain conscious but not remember much of the procedure.

General Anesthesia

For complex cases or patients with severe anxiety, general anesthesia may be used. You’ll be completely unconscious and monitored throughout by our experienced team.
